Virtues of Love

At Crossfit Love, we pride ourselves on the virtues of our product. We practice what we preach. Students and teachers sweat the exact same way. Get some.

Community - CrossFit has done much for the fitness industry as a whole, but the true impact of the sport can be seen in the community it has helped create. CrossFit has become more than a fitness system; it is a collection of individuals who are committed not only to their own fitness but also to the well-being of others. It’s a community no other fitness system has, and because of that community, we will continue to innovate and flourish.

Accountability - Ultimately, every member is responsible for his or her own performance. Coaches can only guide and motivate. Coming to class, working hard, and following the rules are the responsibility of each member.

Humility - A humble student is always willing to accept hard truths and difficult lessons. For beginners, CrossFit Love will quickly weed out a person who is too proud to accept their weakness. It takes even greater humility at more advanced levels of fitness. We improve as athletes and as community members when we focus on improving our weaknesses, so be sure to check your ego at the door.

Honesty - It is the responsibility of each member to adhere to our standards, specifically standards of movement, and keep their own score. Failing to hold ourselves to standards cheats not only the individual, but other members as well.

Moderation - The great sports scientist Mel Siff once said, “Never train minimally, never train maximally, only train optimally”. Doing your best doesn’t necessarily mean going all out each and every day. (Read that again.) Instead, it is better to give your body exactly what it needs at that particular moment; no less, and no more. This principle can be applied to other areas of life, including sleep, diet, and leisure time. We strive to live our life optimally.

Openness - Life constantly presents us with new ideas and opportunities. Openness allows us to absorb the best of what is available and prevents us from stalling in our progress.

Patience - We do not train for quick, short-term gains. These victories often come at an unjustifiably high price and are quickly lost. Instead, our programs are built around training for the long-term. Through this we avoid injuries and establish life-long habits.

Perseverance - Throughout your training, you will run into obstacles. Fitness is a life-long journey with unending challenges. Training for the long haul requires unwavering commitment.

Purposefulness - Without purpose we become unmotivated. Find your inspiration and make sure your program drives towards your goals. If your goals shift, then re-evaluate and adapt accordingly.

Sportsmanship - CrossFit is unique in that everyone cheers for each other. Lines are not drawn between sides and there is a distinct absence of egos and attitudes. Preserving this spirit is paramount.

Exuberance - Liveliness, spirit, vigor, energy; there are many ways to word it. Exuberance is our passion for growth, discovery and all that we experience in life. Modern exercise routines are drab and lifeless. To many, exercise is a chore – just one more thing to fit in during the day. Working out should be fun; we should be excited to do it.

Mindfulness - It is not enough to simply know the basics of what we do in the gym. Every great athlete knows the physics behind efficient movement and has a good understanding of how their body operates. One must be in-tune with the mind, body, and environment; after all, some of the greatest lessons are self taught. Furthermore, an athlete’s safety is greatly dependant on individual awareness. Coaches cannot be everywhere and with everyone. Know yourself and trust what your body tells you.

Self-Motivation - An athlete’s true fight lies not with the opponent but from within. Concern yourself with breaking your personal records and be relentless upon doing so.
